The need arose for an unobstructed view of the sky. One option was to cut the tree that shaded the studio on those blistering hot august days. A better option was an 8×16 all cedar deck across the top of the shop. The last picture is of a small cedar deck off the back of the studio.

How did the deck work out? Was the roof able to take the static load? How did you get up to it?
So far so good. But we live in North Carolina so we do not have any snow loads to contend with. I have another deck about 10 feet off the ground so I simply built a set of steps from that deck to the rooftop deck
